In a competitive world, it's easy to compare yourself to others. Do you worry you are missing out on attention, money, winning, love, accolades, time, health? The list is endless. It only leaves you feeling resentful, anxious and insecure. It's easy to take for granted what you have and yearn for what you think you are missing out on. Try living in the moment and appreciate what you have in your life. Otherwise, the fear of missing out deprives you of the joy of living. Appreciate:

  • good health
  • laughter
  • friends and family
  • ability to hear and see
  • strengths and talents
  • a job
  • a home
  • being safe
  • having food and clean water

Each day, make a conscious effort to thank others and the blessings you have. Not only will you feel more satisfied with life, you will have a bigger capacity to spread kindness.

Every few months I write an ABC gratitude list...I also usually enlist the help of my friends on social media. Not only do I feel better but I usually have several people thank me for the starting the list.

Thanks, Doctor Harmony ! I can't wait to share this with my 11 year old. We're working on an "attitude of gratitude."
