Teeth Grinding & Kids: 6 Reasons Why Your Child May Grind His Teeth!

Did you know that about 15 to 33 percent of kids grind their teeth (also called bruxism)? The reasons, according to WebMD, may include:

  • improperly aligned teeth
  • irregular contact between upper and lower teeth
  • illnesses
  • medical conditions
  • anxiety
  • stress

My 5-year-old has been grinding his teeth for over a year. We've talked with the dentist about it at each visit and confirmed there isn't any major damage. Each time, the dentist has reminded us that any mouthguard wouldn't fit his growing mouth for long. We'll wait and see if he outgrows it. If he doesn't, we'll be ready for next steps.

In the meantime, we're getting earplugs!
