Turmeric toothpaste? Sounds far-fetched, but it’s a DIY toothpaste that many people swear by. Why turmeric? The curcumin in turmeric is said to have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties, which could be helpful with teeth sensitivity and problems like gingivitis and inflamed gums. And despite it’s bright yellow color, it may actually help whiten your teeth.
Here’s an easy recipe for homemade turmeric toothpaste. If you like a minty toothpaste, be sure to add the peppermint essential oils, which can also help keep your breath fresh. Use it just like regular toothpaste.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 10 - 20 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)
Here’s how to make it:
- Combine all the ingredients. Mix well.
- Spoon into an airtight jar or container.
