Tired of being sick? Want to reduce your doctor visits each year? A study found that relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga and prayer reduced doctor visits by a whopping 43 percent in the year after people learned and practiced them! 

The relaxation response first identified by one of my science heroes, Dr. Benson, counteracts the harmful effects of stress. Stress is now known to cause or exacerbate many serious diseases.
