Lavender & Honey Glazed Baked Chicken Recipe: Just Say No to NyQuil Chicken Poultry Dinner

People are making NyQuil chicken. No joke. We can't make this stuff up. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about this new TikTok trend. While we love our viral recipes from TikTok, this one is definitely a no-no.

"Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways," states the FDA. "Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs. Put simply: Someone could take a dangerously high amount of the cough and cold medicine without even realizing it."

We have a solution (kind of) to this problem. Lavender and honey. Lavender has many health benefits, including helping with sleep and relieving asthma symptoms. The health benefits of honey are highly documented, and they include acting as a cough suppressant. Why not try this easy lavender and honey-glazed chicken recipe? Even if it doesn't help with that cough or put you to sleep, it will be a delicious dinner for the family – and it smells heavenly as it bakes.

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  1. Put the lavender, thyme, honey and vinegar into a saucepot. Over low heat, warm the honey, stirring often. When just warmed through, remove from the heat and set aside.
  2. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Put onto a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, start basting every 5 minutes with the honey mixture until chicken is cooked through (165 degrees F internal temperature), about 20 more minutes.
