This brown sugar and balsamic glazed pork tenderloin recipe is great for Sunday dinner. My wife says the slow-cooked pork melts in your mouth like butter. The easy sweet and tangy pork requires minimal ingredients and starts in the slow cooker and finishes under the broiler. Since it is mostly a slow cooker recipe, minimal effort is required for this high-protein dinner. (Check out the health benefits of protein.)
To make this succulent, tender and juicy glazed pork recipe you will need pork tenderloin, ground sage, salt, black pepper, garlic, brown sugar, cornstarch, balsamic vinegar and soy sauce. The pork tenderloin is first rubbed with the homemade rub mix, then slow cooked before the glaze comes into play. A trip under this broiler results in a melt-in-your-mouth bite of pork you won't soon forget.
Serve the shredded pork for dinner with your favorite side dishes. It would also make a great pulled pork sandwich. I add a small bag of baby creamer potatoes and some carrots to the slow cooker so we can have potatoes and carrots along with the pork.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6 to 8 hours
Total Time: 6 hours and 10 minutes to 8 hours and 10 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 2 - 3 pounds pork tenderloin
- 1/2 cup water
Rub
- 1 teaspoon ground sage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
Glaze
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Here's how to make it:
- Combine sage, salt, pepper and minced garlic in a bowl. Rub the mixture all over the pork tenderloin.
- Add 1/2 cup of water to slow cooker, then add the pork tenderloin.
- Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. (All slow cookers are different. With my slow cooker I usually cook on high for a few hours and then switch to low.)
- About an hour before serving, combing the glaze ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Spoon a small amount onto the pork tenderloin in the slow cooker. (My family likes lots of sauce, so usually multiply the glaze recipe by 1 1/2. If you want this recipe to be gluten-free, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.)
- About 15 minutes before serving, remove the pork tenderloin from the slow cooker and place on a foil-lined baking pan. Lightly shred the pork. Spoon the glaze onto the partially shredded pork and place under a broiler until sauce starts to caramelize. Serve. (I like to use my Breville smart oven for the broiling part. It is really easy to watch and control the caramelization process.)
