Years ago, I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks in Italy. My friend and I ate our way through many of the regions – from the Amalfi Coast to Cinque Terre to Venice to Assisi to Rome to Stresa to Milan to San Gimignano to Florence and more. The food was amazing! One of the highlights was eating cannoli on a covered patio beside a mountain during a thunderstorm. I don't know which captivated me more, the thunder echoing off the mountains or the crunchy, creamy, sweet cannoli.
Cannoli is not an easy dessert to replicate at home. What to do? Make a simple, creamy cannoli dip! This five-ingredient cannoli dip recipe has basically zero prep and mixes up in minutes. Here is your shopping list for this sweet cannoli dip: whole-milk ricotta, cream cheese or mascarpone, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and semisweet chocolate chips.
Mascarpone is more traditional in a cannoli filling, but it is more expensive. Cream cheese is a great substitute. - 1 box (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened, or 8 ounces mascarpone
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

- Instead of chocolate chips, use pistachios or dried fruit.
