Tiramisu Poke Cake Recipe: You Won't Believe How Delicious This Cake Is

Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert. To make the iconic coffee-flavored dessert, ladyfingers are soaked in brewed coffee or espresso and layered with a creamy mixture made with mascarpone. Tiramisu is not that hard to make, but this tiramisu poke cake recipe is even easier! The foolproof dessert will be a crowd pleaser.

The tiramisu poke cake starts with a boxed white cake mix. Holes are poked into the cake and a coffee drizzle made with sweetened condensed milk, coffee liqueur, cocoa powder and espresso powdered is poured over the top. Let the sweet coffee glaze sink deep into those holes. The whole cake is frosted with a sweet mascarpone frosting and chilled in the fridge.

Mascarpone is a soft Italian cream cheese that can be found in most grocery stores. Serve this Italian poke cake for dessert. It travels well to take to potlucks, cookouts or family gatherings, too.

Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes plus time to chill
Servings: Makes 1 cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 box (15 ounces) white cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Drizzle

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup Kahlua (coffee liqueur)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • large pinch of salt

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone
  • 3 tablespoons Kahlua
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Topping

  • cocoa powder

Here's how to make it:

  1. With an electric mixer, beat together the cake mix, milk, eggs and oil. Pour the cake batter into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove and cool.
  2. To make the coffee drizzle, stir together the sweetened condensed milk, Kahlua, cocoa powder, espresso powder and salt. Mix well. Poke holes all over the cake and pour the mixture over the cake so it sinks down into the holes. Put the cake into the refrigerator.
  3. To make the frosting, beat the granulated sugar, mascarpone and Kahlua together. Add the heavy whipping cream and beat with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Frost the cold cake. Dust with cocoa powder. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Oh, Donna John . Some days moderation just isn't in my repertoire 😕 Have a feeling the day I bake this might be one of them. Sadly.
