South Dakota Meatloaf Recipe: This Ground Beef Meatloaf Recipe Is Super Moist

Regional recipes like Tennessee onions, Texas caviar dip, Chicago-style pork sandwiches, Detroit-style pizza, Alabama white sauce and Ohio creamy chicken sandwiches are so interesting to make. Discovering foods people in other parts of the U.S. enjoy is not only fun, but delicious. Like this South Dakota meatloaf recipe. Who knew South Dakota had a meatloaf?

This easy moist meatloaf recipe doesn't have any crazy ingredients (Ohio's chicken sandwich is made with crushed up potato chips!). The meatloaf is made with ground beef, an egg, evaporated milk, quick oats, onion, Worcestershire sauce and sage (sage is an interesting addition). After baking in the oven for about an hour, it is topped with ketchup and baked a little longer. This meatloaf is super moist, mainly because of the addition of evaporated milk.

Be sure not to overmix the meatloaf mixture and gently press it into the pan so it doesn't become too dense. If you don't like topping your meatloaf with ketchup, use barbecue sauce or your favorite topping. Serve this moist meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a fresh vegetable.
