There are as many ways to make pizza dough as there are pizza combinations. You can make gluten-free pizza dough, Neapolitan-style pizza dough, two-ingredient pizza dough and rustic pizza dough, to name just a few. Here's another easy way to make homemade pizza dough – a no-knead pizza dough recipe. My nonna frequently skipped the kneading and made this tender pizza dough.
The simple pizza dough recipe is made with water, yeast, sugar, flour, salt and olive oil. After the ingredients are mixed together and allowed to rise for 20 minutes, the dough is formed into two balls that are ready to be rolled out, topped and baked. The recipe makes two 10- to 12-inch pizzas.
To bake the pizzas, put the rolled out pizza dough onto a baking sheet, pizza stone or pizza pan that's been sprinkled with cornmeal. Using a fork, prick holes all over the crust. Add desired pizza sauce and toppings. Bake in a preheated 450-degree F oven for about 10 to 12 minutes.
Add this no-knead homemade pizza dough recipe to your pizza night rotation. It'll make pizza night that much easier and delicious!
Cuisine: Italian
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 16 (makes 2 10- to 12-inch pizzas)
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water (about 105 degrees F)
- .25 ounces (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Herse's how to make it:
- Whisk together the water, sugar and yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes (it will start to foam).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the water and olive oil. Mix until well combined. Cover the bowl with a towel and let it rise for about 20 minutes. (For a gluten-free crust, use gluten-free 1:1 flour.)
- Remove the dough with floured hands and roll into two balls. The pizza is ready to be shaped and baked! This recipe can easily be doubled for four pizzas.
