Does Cinnamon Toast Make You Happy? Try This Healthier Version!

As a child, one of my favorite comfort foods was cinnamon toast. That warm, buttery, cinnamon-sweet goodness just made me happy. Turns out, it may have been good for me, too. Cinnamon has long been regarded as a super-spice used in traditional medicine around the world. It's known for its antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and may even lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol. Here's my version of a "healthier" cinnamon toast!

You’ll need:

  • whole grain bread (I use gluten-free)
  • unsalted butter
  • sugar
  • cinnamon

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Spread a thin layer of unsalted butter to barely coat the toast.
  2. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sugar in a circle.
  3. Liberally apply cinnamon to the toast.

Get ready to be happy!

This just took me back to my childhood! My mom and grandma always made us cinnamon toast. They would make it then pop it in the toaster oven or under the broiler until it got all bubbly. I must have it now! :-) Elisa All 30SecondMom

Yum! This was a favorite for my brother and I! I've just started making it for my 10 month old too with olive oil drizzled and without the sugar ;)
