Outstanding. Fabulous. Delicious. I cannot say enough about this easy balsamic-glazed mushroom recipe. With balsamic vinegar, a little brown sugar and garlic, this easy mushroom side dish is sweet and savory. This steakhouse mushroom recipe is the perfect side dish for beef, pork, lamb or chicken
The balsamic-glazed mushrooms are made with fresh mushrooms (check out the health benefits of mushrooms), balsamic vinegar, dark brown sugar, butter, olive oil, fresh garlic and parsley. The mushrooms cook up in about 10 minutes and require minimal prep. Now that's the best gluten-free side dish recipe!
To make these mushrooms vegan, simply use vegan butter. These mushrooms cook in 10 minutes, so they're the perfect weekday side dish, but are fancy enough for that special dinner party. You could serve these low-sodium mushrooms as appetizers with toothpicks.
Cuisine: American

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 16 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter (divided)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
Here's how to make it:
- Combine the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter and the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Cook, without stirring, for about 2 minutes. Stir and continue to cook until the mushrooms are soft and beginning to brown, about 5 to 6 minutes. (Any mushroom would work for this side dish recipe. You could even use a mixture of different mushrooms. Make this a vegan recipe by simply using vegan butter.)
- Reduce the heat to low and add the garlic and remaining butter. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Pour in the balsamic vinegar mixture and cook until it thickens and coats the mushrooms, about 1 minute. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
