This easy pasta recipe with creamy tomato meat sauce has been in my dinner recipe arsenal for years. The ingredient list is short, the prep is simple and the Italian recipe cooks in no time – not to mention how delicious it is. What is it about adding cream to, well, anything, that takes it up a notch? This is one of my favorite pasta recipes.
To make this Italian dinner you only need seven simple ingredients. Here is your short shopping list: pasta (I used fusilli), ground beef or ground turkey, an onion, fresh garlic, canned Italian-style tomatoes, dried Italian seasoning and heavy cream. This is a quick and easy dinner recipe to serve during the week. I like to serve the pasta topped with creamy tomato sauce with a fresh vegetable (usually green beans, broccolini or sauteed spinach) and a crisp salad with salad dressing or vinaigrette. Sometimes I'll add a side of garlic bread.

Ingredients
- 8 ounces fusilli, spaghetti noodles, rotini, penne or your favorite pasta, cooked according to package directions
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces (2 cans) Italian-style tomatoes (do not drain)
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Here's how to make it:
- Cook the ground meat, onion and garlic in a skillet until meat is browned.
- Add the tomatoes with their liquid and the Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 20 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated.
- Stir in the cream and heat through. If you don't have cream, use evaporated milk or half and half.
- Serve over the cooked pasta. You can also stir the pasta into the sauce in the pan before serving. Serve with additional grated Parmesan cheese. Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the microwave.
