Bone-in chicken pieces are seasoned with a mixture of olive oil, dry ranch salad dressing mix and minced garlic. The chicken bakes in the oven for about 30 to 40 minutes or until it is cooked through, crispy and golden brown. The flavor cooks into the skin of the chicken, creating a mouth-watering piece of juicy chicken.

  • 6 bone-in chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 envelope (1 ounce) dry ranch salad dressing mix

  • This baked chicken recipe calls for thighs, but you could use chicken drumsticks, chicken wings, chicken breasts or even do a whole chicken. Just keep in mind that different pieces of chicken cook for different amounts of time, and adjust accordingly.

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Put the chicken into a baking pan. Season with black pepper, to taste.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the dressing mix, olive oil and garlic. Brush or spoon the mixture all over the chicken. 
  3. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 30 to 40 minutes or until chicken is crispy and cooked through. (Cook time will depend on how big the chicken thighs are.)

Can you do this recipe with Chicken Breast? How much long to bake and do you add more liquid Ingredients to compensate for more baking time?

I've never made it with chicken breast, but you could definitely do that. They would cook faster, so I would start checking them at about 20 minutes or so. Let us know how they turn out! Snap a photo!

My Granddaughters LOVE chicken and I think they would really enjoy this. My problem is I only make them BONELESS thighs. It's easier for them. How would this recipe change to accommodate?

I love boneless chicken thighs, too. Just reduce the cooking time. Anything on a bone takes longer to cook.
