Easy Bananas Foster Recipe: A Famous New Orleans Dessert Recipe With a Little Drama by 30Seconds Food

The famous bananas foster dessert recipe was invented at Brennan's restaurant in New Orleans. The dessert is not only popular because it's sweet and absolutely delicious, but at the restaurant it is flamed tableside. You can skip the flames at home, but if you want the drama, do it! Just be careful and always tilt the pan away from you when igniting.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 bananas, sliced in half lengthwise or into large pieces
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- vanilla ice cream
Here's how to make it:
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the bananas and cook, stirring, for about 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat and add the brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Cook, stirring, about 2 minutes.
- Scoop into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream.
Note: If you want to flame the dessert, add 1 ounce of whiskey, rum or bourbon when you add the final ingredients. Tilt the pan away from you (carefully!) to ignite. Let the alcohol burn off.
