This Mexican milk fudge recipe only have four simple ingredients that you probably already have in your fridge and pantry. Here is your short and sweet shopping list: butter, brown sugar, a can of sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. You will also need a saucepot, electric mixer, parchment paper and a square baking pan or dish to make this Mexican recipe.
This creamy fudge candy recipe is the perfect sweet bite for dessert after dinner, or an indulgent, energizing snack during the day. The candy also makes a wonderful food gift during the holidays or for Valentine's Day.
Cuisine: Mexican
Prep Time: 5 minutes plus 1 hour to chill
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour and 25 minutes
Servings: 20
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 14 ounces (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all the ingredients in a saucepot over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring often.
- Test the candy by taking a small amount and dropping it into cold water. If you can mold it with your fingers, it is ready. If not, continue cooking 2 to 3 more minutes and try again.
- When ready, pour the mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer or regular mixing bowl. With an electric mixer, beat for 5 minutes.
- Immediately pour the candy into an 8x8-inch baking pan that's been lined with parchment paper and sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Spread the candy with a rubber spatula. Refrigerate about 1 hour or until set. Cut into squares. The number of servings will vary depending on how big you cut the squares. This is a rich candy, so I make them smaller.
