Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup basmati rice or long-grain white rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup frozen green peas or canned peas
Here's how to make it:
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the rice. Cook, stirring constantly, until it begins to lightly brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the water, cover and cook on low heat about 15 to 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Stir in the peas and heat through. Serve.
