Homemade Yogi Tea: How to Make the Original Chai Tea Recipe by Lisa Faremouth Weber

As a Kundalini yoga teacher, it is a tradition to drink yogi tea during teacher training or following a yoga class. Yogi Bhajan gave us the original yogi tea recipe, which is all natural and healing. It is the perfect beverage for fall and winter and will make your home smell wonderful. If you practice hygee, making this tea will help you feel cozy. The tea keeps in the fridge for about a week.
You'll need:
- 4 quarts water
- 8 slices fresh ginger
- 20 cardamom seeds
- 20 cloves
- 20 black peppercorns
- 8 cinnamon sticks
- black tea
- almond milk, soy milk or your favorite milk alternative
- honey
Here's how to make it:
- Boil the water in a large pot. Add the ginger, cardamom seeds, cloves, black pepper seeds and cinnamon sticks. Boil at least 40 minutes. Strain.
- Add black tea and milk of choice. Sweeten with honey, to taste. Serve.
