A Restaurant Shares Their Coveted Honey Mustard Salad Dressing Recipe

This salad dressing recipe took me forever to get! Give the old standby (aka ranch salad dressing) a break and try this easy honey mustard salad dressing recipe. It's another recipe I talked the restaurant out of sharing with me. The restaurant is now out of business, so I am relieved I can keep making their creamy honey mustard salad dressing at home.

This salad dressing is simple to prepare. Whisk together mayonnaise, vegetable oil, honey and mustard in a bowl until well combined. Then whisk in the apple cider vinegar and ground cayenne. Don't leave the ground cayenne out, because it adds a depth of flavor to this creamy dressing. Trust me.

This honey mustard salad dressing recipe is great on salads and as a dip for chicken tenders or chicken wings, or french fries, tater tots and onion rings.

  • Store the salad dressing in a mason jar, salad dressing cruet or an airtight container in the fridge.
  • You can use any neutral oil in this recipe. Olive oil is not a neutral oil, so skip it for this recipe. Canola or vegetable oil are good choices.
  • This recipe makes a lot, so feel free to cut it in half.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, oil, honey and mustard in a bowl. 
  2. Whisk in the apple cider vinegar. Stir in cayenne.
