This salad dressing recipe took me forever to get. Give the old standby (aka ranch salad dressing) a break and try this easy honey mustard salad dressing recipe. It's another coveted recipe I talked the restaurant out of sharing with me. The historic Houston-area restaurant is now out of business, so I am relieved I can keep making their creamy honey mustard salad dressing at home.
This salad dressing is simple to prepare. Whisk together mayonnaise, vegetable oil, honey and mustard in a bowl until well combined. Then whisk in the apple cider vinegar and ground cayenne. Don't leave the ground cayenne out, because it adds a depth of flavor to this creamy dressing. Trust me. (Check out the health benefits of honey and the health benefits of apple cider vinegar.)
This honey mustard salad dressing recipe is great on salads and as a dip for chicken tenders or chicken wings, or french fries, tater tots and onion rings. I always ordered a side of this creamy honey mustard salad dressing for my club sandwich and used creamy vinaigrette on my salad. Oh, the memories!
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 20 (makes about 3 1/2 cups)
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup oil (a neutral oil like vegetable or canola, not olive oil)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup yellow mustard
- 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Here's how to make it:
- Whisk together the mayonnaise, oil, honey and mustard in a bowl. (You can use any neutral oil in this recipe. Olive oil is not a neutral oil, so skip it for this recipe. Canola or vegetable oil are good choices.)
- Whisk in the apple cider vinegar. Stir in cayenne. (This recipe makes a lot, so feel free to cut it in half.) Store the salad dressing in a mason jar, salad dressing cruet or an airtight container in the fridge.
