"Eat, Pray, Love" Inspiration in Bali: My Visit With a Medicine Man in Ubud

While visiting Ubud, Bali, I talked to my driver for the week, Dek from Bali Belly Tours, about seeing a local medicine man. I was inspired by Eat, Pray, Love,  but didn’t want to go to a commercialized medicine man. Dek suggested I meet the local medicine man his family sees.

Since I am not Indonesian or Hindi I had to go to the medicine man and ask him if he could still see me. He had to meditate on it and see if he could still help me. He called Dek the next day to grant permission and make an appointment.

The next morning, a bit nervous, I sat outside the room of the medicine man. Dek had stopped and bought a beautiful floral offering for me to give for the gods and I brought a small monetary offering for the medicine man. It was decided Dek would go into the room with me so he could translate.

The three of us sat on the floor while the medicine man asked questions and gave me his thoughts. His gentle nature was calming and full of love. His insights were surprisingly accurate. He suggested I go to the temple for cleansing and blessing and gave instructions of what I needed to do.

As I left his small room I felt an overwhelming sense of love and peace. I was excited for the blessing experience as well as feeling enlightened by what he shared with me.

OMG! How amazing that you go to do that. (I feel like I say that to you all the time!) :) "Eat, Pray, Love" is one of my favorite books. I read the entire book on the plane to Chicago to meet up with Elisa All Schmitz 30Seconds back in the iParenting days. Think it's time to reread it. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, Sheri B Doyle .

Binary Options, also known as Digital Options, is the trading of specific financial instruments within an allotted time span. The main differences from conventional trading are firstly the instrument is never actually held by the trader and secondly once the allotted time is up (meaning the trade has expired), the trader has either profited or lost but the trade is now closed.
