How to Tie-Dye Easter Eggs With Non-Dairy Whipped Topping (Cool Whip™ Eggs) Activities Holidays Fun With Dad Crafts Playtime
Happy Easter! I love easy activities and crafts that aren't a lot of work for me and so much fun for the kids. My dear friend brought her sweet 3-year-old over to make these beautiful tie-dye Easter eggs using non-dairy whipped topping (such as Cool Whip™). This easy Easter activity was a success and so much fun. It's a great family activity!
I'd recommend getting a plastic table cover and a few containers to make eggs of different colors. All you need is hardboiled eggs, food coloring, non-dairy whipped topping and some little hands! For the food coloring, traditional primary colors work best. Also, the traditional liquid food coloring worked best for us, as the gels are slightly muted and take longer to set on the eggs.

You'll need:
- hardboiled eggs (cooled)
- 1 - 3 containers non-dairy whipped topping (such as Cool Whip™)
- food coloring
Here's how to do it:
- Cover the work surface with newspaper, towels or a drop cloth. Put the whipped topping into containers. Let the kids squeeze the food coloring into the whip. If you want different colored eggs, separate the colors in pairs (red/yellow or green/blue or blue/red.) If you want one color egg let them put all the colors in one container. Swirl the colors into the whipped topping with a spatula or just leave it as is.
- Let the kids experience moving the eggs until they are covered with dye and the cream. Leave the eggs inside the whipped topping and add the next until all the eggs are done.
- Put the container of eggs, still covered in whip, into the refrigerator for several hours. We left ours in overnight to get a darker color on the shells. Rinse the cream off and place on a paper towel to dry.
