Sitting watching my sassy girl twirl, I was shocked by a 3-year-old yelling “shut up!” He swung his tiny fist at his mom; I had to bite my tongue. Then it dawned on me – I fell prey to assuming it could never be my sweet angel allowing her halo to slide down, revealing her devilish side. Ouch! Wasn't it just last week that she was stomping through Target creating a spectacularly embarrassing display?
After that I thought of the game “Never Have I Ever,” which is designed to teach you about your friends. How would this game be played with my mom friends?
- Never have I ever locked myself in the bathroom while ignoring the sound of fighting children.
- Never have I ever been humiliated by my child picking her nose in front of the dance class and wiping it on the mirror.
- Never have I ever had to leave a meeting because when I sneezed, I also peed my pants.
This game could make for a wild Friday night game. Just kidding – you are a mom; this might kill you! Saturday morning will slap you in the face! Instead, maybe we could be kinder to ourselves and our fellow moms, and remember that no child is perfect. No parent is perfect.
“Never have I ever” wanted perfection anyway.
