Picture Books: Why I Love Children's Books & How They Help Kids & Adults Learn & Grow! Books Fatherhood Parenting
As an educator I try to keep up with current education and leadership books. It takes me some time to finish them. Yet, I give it that ol’ college try to stay relevant in my profession. Over the past several years I have come to grow more attracted to children’s book for the pictures and simple, but powerful, messages picture books contain.
Educators at all grades and subject areas should not overlook or dismiss picture books. They teach us tolerance, kindness, friendship and let us believe in the power we have inside us. Many focus on finding our voice so we can make this world a better place.
The following picture books have helped me grow as an educator and as a parent. I have given some of these books as presents to family and friends on special occasions. I flipped this learning and have used it to be able to listen and learn from the children in my school. That’s why they are special. Here are my top five picture books.
