How do u parent and change 'silly talk'? My child was overheard at kindy with 2 other children saying inappropriate thigs similar to that of poo poo head etc.
i do not tolerate this but I don't know how to stop it. We talk about feelings and stopping to think about how other ppl feel etc, but i think the kids think it is a game. I try to redirect or correct if inhear anything that isn't appropriate, but clearly i am failing.

My child is quite outgoing and confident but i would say a bully. I don't want my child to be disliked by teachers. I am mortified and sick to my stomach that i was spoken to by the teacher.

Thanks Nala for your question. This is very common situation, especially in young children. I am impressed that you are taking it seriously though as this is a crucial stage to be starting to teach empathy, social skills and communication. You are a very responsible and proactive parent!

Well done for trying to teach your child empathy for others. This is one key to the development of healthy relationships, boundaries and resilience. It is fantastic that you are trying to teach your child social skills and kindness. These skills will take time for children to learn and will take persistence, patience and consistency in teaching it.

Many factors need to be considered with each child and situation. This would need to be explored further by a counselor, local doctor or psychologist.

I wish you all the best!
