One day I picked up my daughters from school with a worried look on my face, due to a preoccupation with work. My youngest, age 5, saw my face and said, “Mommy I’m sad because you look sad." I resolved that from then on I would always greet my daughters with a smile no matter WHAT!
So I put a happy face sticker on my car keys, and that little yellow circle does the trick. When I grab my keys, they give me a reminder to smile. Really, I'm becoming more present in that moment. Because seeing my kids is truly the highlight of my day. And there's plenty of time for worry when they're not around!
