Being from Texas, we grill for dinner quite often. One ingredient that is always tops on my list to cook on the grill is pork chops. Thin or thick, pork chops are hard to mess up and can be seasoned in so many different ways. This juicy grilled Japanese barbecue pork chop recipe uses an ingredient I've been cooking with long before it went viral on TikTok: Bachan's Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce. The sauce adds just the right amount of sweet and savory to the pork.
To make this grilled pork recipe you need only two ingredients: pork chops and a bottle of Japanese barbecue sauce. The pork chops are seasoned with salt and black pepper before being grilled. Toward the end of the short grilling time, start basting with the barbecue sauce. Let them rest, grab and steak knife and enjoy the juicy, porky goodness.
You can serve these Asian-inspired pork chops with any side dish you like. I didn't go Asian with sides and served mine with buttered green peas and a salad. If you want to stick to the Asian vibes, serve with fried rice (try Japanese corn fried rice), seaweed salad or a hibachi-style salad.
Cuisine: Japanese / American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 pork chops
- Japanese barbecue sauce
Recipe Notes
- I used Bachan’s Original Japanese BBQ Sauce, which went viral on TikTok. But you can use any Asian-style barbecue sauce.
- The thickness of your pork chops will affect cooking time.
- Let the pork chops rest before slicing so they stay juicy.
- If you don't want to grill, use a cast iron skillet, indoor grill or grill pan.
Here's how to make it:
- Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper, to taste.
- Heat the grill to medium-high. Add the pork chops and cook until seared on one side and about halfway cooked through, about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Flip the pork chops over and continue to cook, basting with the barbecue sauce and flipping often, until pork is cooked through (145 degrees F internal temperature on a meat thermometer).
- Remove the pork chops and allow them to rest a few minutes before serving.
