It's cherry season! Cherries are not only delicious, but also full of an antioxidant called anthocyanins, which help reduce heart disease, cancer and inflammation. Cherries are one of a few food sources that contain melatonin, a hormone that helps maintains the body's circadian rhythm (sleep cycles). Because cherries are high in vitamins C, E and folate, they're great when you crave something sweet. (Read more about the health benefits of cherries.)
This delicious cherry banana smoothie recipe is dairy free and vegan. It's a perfect breakfast, energizing snack or even a healthy dessert. This easy smoothie tastes so fresh and naturally sweet, with no refined sugar, you'll think you're cheating on your healthy diet (quite the opposite).
All you need to make this creamy dairy-free smoothie recipe is frozen cherries, a banana, coconut milk, raw honey, chia seeds and ice cubes. Blend up all the ingredients, pour into a glass and get to sippin'!
