Put One Foot in Front of the Other
I dusted the cobwebs off my head,
It seemed like the thing to do.
My sweatshirt was crumpled and wrinkled.
It said, “What’s new in 2002?”
My stomach was bulging,
The rolls formed a pouch
Then I made up my mind
To get off of the couch.
I put on the activity tracker
To record my fitness.
Now, if only I had someone
To be my witness.
I laced up my sneakers
And was ready to go,
Decided to stretch,
Then started out slow.
With wind on my face
And spring in my step,
I noticed that walking
Was giving me pep.
“Look at that walker”
The neighbors all jeered
but I had the last laugh
When my health reappeared.
