Fate & Signs From the Universe: What Is Your Take On It? Is It Real? by Jessica Lawrence

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about signs. Not literal signs, but things that happen which appear to be out of my control.

In high school, I remember reading Julius Caesar. We had a great discussion regarding fate after the conclusion of the Shakespearean classic. As a mildly religious person, I want to believe that everyone has a path they are supposed to follow. Yet I am also realistic enough to question why bad things happen to good people, and why people are treated unfairly in this world – often when there is no explanation.

A prime example of my logic: I often ask some kind of higher power to send me a sign. Usually, it is from my bed, late at night. Lately, what I've asked for has been a glimpse of someone, as a way to help me move on (or hope for a change in circumstances). In the past week, it has happened three times.

So, was this fate? Or purely coincidence? It remains to be unseen. Whether it is a glance in passing or being at the right place at the right time, is this what a higher power wants? Or, is it just happenstance? Should I beware the ides of 2019?
