Plitvice Lakes National Park In Croatia: Spend An Enchanting Day At the Waterfalls by Sheri B Doyle

Love waterfalls? If you love waterfalls as much as most people I have met, then spending a day in Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, among 90 waterfalls, 16 lakes and numerous walking paths, is a must see in your lifetime.
I spent a spring day walking through the National Park, along wood-planked trails and dirt paths, escaping from all that is stressful in the world. After passing through the entrance, nature enveloped me, inviting me to get lost in its beauty. Trees clung to the sides of hills leading into one of the many lakes. Man-made paths lead me across the turquoise waters of the lakes and into the landings in front of massive waterfalls where rainbows danced through the water when the light was just right.
Boats moved visitors through the waters of the largest lake and into an area full of lime-green moss-covered trees and rocks, where the water glimmered as it ran down the stony brooks, rushing to gather and be part of the falling water. Dirt paths lead me along quieter lakes to massive waterfalls where people stood to bask in the spray and watch the water trickle down the glistening rocks. Flowers bloomed in the crevices of the hills as I walked through them. The calming sounds of water flowing and falling never left me as I spent the day in awe and wonder.
Close to the exit there was a platform to stop and take in the sweeping views; it was one last moment reminding me of all the glory of nature on our planet. It was a place to stop and take a deep breath, drawing in as much of the beauty as possible to take with me as I left this magical place.
