The thing is, perfection is only achievable on a carefully crafted Facebook feed. Most of us are guilty of sharing only the cutest, most perfectly captured moments – you know, the highlight reel. But that’s not real life and we all know it! Reality is blurry and messy and chaotic, but it’s also beautiful and fulfilling and exciting.
This parenting gig is hard, but you know what? We keep showing up day after day, even when we’d rather hibernate to catch up on all of the sleep we’ve sacrificed to live the crazy life. Sound familiar? Being a mother tests us in ways we never thought possible. Despite all the warm fuzzies and good intentions, moms throw their own toddler tantrums when exhaustion has us behaving like a child, too.
By nature, we strive to be everything to everyone and at some point, we run out of steam and hit ugly cry mode. Repeat after me: “It’s normal. It happens to all of us. I’m doing my best!” I’m here to remind you that you’re doing a fantastic job. No one is perfect all of the time, so cut yourself some slack and take a much needed, guilt-free mommy timeout.
