The 4th of July typically means parades, cookouts and plenty of time with family. But this Independence Day is a different, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, July 4th can be a wonderful time for some fun opportunities for summer learning with your kids. Here are a few of my favorite activities for the holiday weekend:
1. Explore the “how” of fireworks and sparklers – and fire safety! Encourage your kids to research and teach an Independence Day history lesson.
2. Discuss water safety before hitting the beach or pool.
3. Make well-balanced, healthy dishes for a family cookout.
4. Identify different band instruments and patriotic songs and create your own 4th of July parade.
How are you spending the holiday weekend?
