St. Patrick's Day Crafts for Kids: Follow This Recycled Rainbow Craft to That Pot O' Gold by Kim Kusiciel

Everyone loves rainbows! And it's said that there's a pot o' gold waiting at the end of the rainbow on St. Patrick's Day. Why not make this simple rainbow craft with your kids?
This quick and easy craft project uses recycled toilet paper rolls. What a creative way to teach your kids about recycling. All you need is a toilet paper tube, washable paints the colors of the rainbow, cotton balls and glue. Cutting the toilet paper tube forms the rainbow (you may have to help them with this step). Then, let kids get creative and paint the rainbow with non-toxic, washable paint. Don't be afraid to let them get messy! The cotton balls form clouds around the rainbow. How fun!
You’ll need:
- 1 toilet paper roll
- 6 - 7 washable paints (one for each color of the rainbow)
- 4 - 6 cotton balls
- glue
Here’s how to make it:
- Cut along the length of the toilet paper roll so that it is open on one side. This becomes your rainbow.
- Paint the colors of the rainbow from side to side on the toilet paper roll.
- Once the paint is dry, pull apart four to six cotton balls and glue them to the long edges of the toilet paper roll.
Now you have your own rainbow that will never fade! Add some gold coins if you'd like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. After you’ve completed the craft read a book about rainbows.
