Dare to Shine: U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Wins the FIFA Women's World Cup Headlines Become the Fire

The U.S. women’s soccer team won the World Cup with a final score of 2-0 against the Netherlands. Before the final, neither team had lost a game in the tournament. I’d like to say a big congratulations to these amazing athletes! There’s so much women power in this team and in co-captain Megan Rapinoe, who proudly stands up for women’s rights and human rights.

“Throughout the tournament, the U.S. brushed aside criticism, complaints of arrogance and calls for the team to tone down their goal celebrations. All the team did was win. All seven World Cup games, in fact," writes NPR's Russell Lewis. [img]

This enormous win feels like a win for all the girls and women who have been told they're too loud, too obnoxious, too bossy, too aggressive, too arrogant, too everything. This win feels like a win for all the girls and women who have been told they don’t smile enough, simply aren’t enough.

This tournament marks “the fifth time the United States Women's National Team played a World Cup final (there have only been eight tournaments). The U.S. is the first team to reach three consecutive finals and joins Germany as a repeat champion (2003 and 2007). With the win, the U.S. has a record four Women's World Cup trophies.” (NPR

I predict that this remarkable team will inspire many little girls to dream big dreams. Now give these world-class athletes the equal pay they deserve!
