Quality Time With Kids: Even Snack Time Can Be a Special Event for the People in Our Lives Parenting Motherhood
My teen daughter commented about how the "Brits" have morning tea, elevensies, afternoon coffee… The list seemed to go on and on. I took the hint – we needed more food and quality time together. We get so busy checking off our to-do lists each day, we miss out on what matters most – time with our families!
Instead of rushing into chores after school one day, I set out toast and jam, berries, hot cocoa and tea. We sat around with our cozy blankets, warm drinks and I read aloud one of our favorite chapter books. I used "real" (aka the good china) plates, lit some candles and made it a special event. It allowed us all to slow down and be together in our busy days.
Don't let busyness get in the way of building lasting relationships and memories with your kiddos. Slowing down to make snack time a special event is a great investment of our time!
