"Acts of Kindness" Fundraiser Helps Kids Give Back Using Their Talents Make a Difference Activities

When we share tough news with our kids, what are we looking to teach them? Recently, I was in the car with my daughters, Ella (8) and Sophie (6), listening to the radio. They were upset hearing that Puerto Rico still has no power and trying to figure out what all of that means. They asked, "What can we do, Mom?" I thought for a few minutes about what they really could do other than donate their allowance or tooth fairy money. How could I show them that their actions could provide real, meaningful benefits?

My girls love to dance and have been begging to put on a talent show, so I asked them, "What if we use the talent show as a way to raise awareness and funds for those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico?" They loved the idea and "Acts of Kindness" was born!

"Acts of Kindness" will be held at Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook, Ill. Let me know if you have kids interested in participating. Its completely free to perform and donations are encouraged from the audience. We have dancers, karate performers, basketball dribblers, pianists and more!

Join us December 2, 2017, at Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook, Ill., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.!
