Holiday Traditions: What Are Your Favorite Family Holiday Traditions?

Typically, our family collects "memories" not "things." Inadvertently, we started collecting nutcrackers when our oldest gave one to me as a Christmas gift three years ago.

Last year we decided to combine these "things" with our "memories" and we found the perfect nutcracker on a very special trip to Disney World. From now on, our tradition will be to pick out a nutcracker that reminds us of a special moment from that season.

Oh, I love this, B.I. Mansour ! What a lovely idea. I'm all about experiences and memories, too. Funny thing - we just bought a Chicago Bulls nutcracker for one of our kids. Maybe it's the start of our new tradition, ha!

We opened our presents on Christmas morning, except for one. When we were young my mom always made us new pajamas that she’d have washed and wrapped that we got to open on Christmas Eve and are you ready for this? So we’d look good for pictures when we opened our presents the next morning! Regardless it made Christmas a little more special, then we got older and nobody really cared if they got new pajamas and with 4 kids I think she was just fine with that. Being the sentimental one of my siblings I continued the tradition when I got married. Even though I do sew, I don’t make the pajamas. So as soon as I buy them I wash and wrap them and that is the only presents we open on Christmas Eve as well. We joke that it’s just so we’ll look good for pictures, but everyone knows it’s more than that and always look forward to being indulged with the cozy of coziest jammies I can find. And I’m sure no matter what far reach of the world my kids will be in in life they’re always going to expect getting new jammies for Christmas and I’ll be happy to do it! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

We pick a special ornament each year! It usually has a special meaning specifically tied to something that occurred over the past year. This year- my son is consumed with arachnids...so we thought this one was perfect! 😂
