Why Failing Is Important & How It Impacts Our Kids' Success!

In order to encourage future success, it is important to allow our kids to fail. It is in the experience of trial and error, that authentic learning takes place. As parents, we strive for student successes, but by overemphasizing those achievements, we may be missing the most valuable parts of the learning journey – those “failures.” Helping kids to embrace their missteps encourages key behavioral attributes that will lead to future achievement.

  • Resiliency: the capacity to recover and try again
  • Innovation: great ideas come from “out of the box” thinking
  • Tenacity: the strength to overcome, while staying focused on a goal
  • Motivation: the drive that energizes continued effort

When we help kids to embrace their failures, we’re teaching them to try again.
