"Women who vacation are eight times less likely to have heart disease. Men who skip vacations are 30 percent more likely to die from a heart attack." WOW! Say no more, Joyce Knestrick, CRNP, FAANP . I need to plan a true vacation and not just business travel. Thank you!

Great article. As U.S. workers, we are so deprived of vacation time so we have to be ON IT. And I have always been a fan of a few winter long weekend breaks--3 or 4 days to decompress. I make sure I don't have to go more than 2-3 hours either driving or flying so I reach my destination "fast" but feel I'm far enough away. When I lived in NYC, I'd take a train down to the Spring Lake along the Jersey coast. When I lived in NM, I would drive north to Colorado or fly to San Diego. Now that I am in the PNW, I go north to a lovely resort on the WA-CA border--just 2 hours away from Seattle and I can also go up to Vancouver as the border is right there. Or I go south to Portland, 2 hours away. Here's to good health.
