Multiple Sclerosis & Parkinson's: How Pilates Can Help With These Neurological Diseases Diseases/Disorders Fitness

People with neurologic conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s disease can improve quality of life with Pilates apparatus training. Pilates improves core strength and pelvic stabilization done in a mindful way. Dr. Allen Bowling, professor of neurology at the University of Colorado and author of "Optimal Health With Multiple Sclerosis," states that Pilates can "rewire the brain for confidence and stability." In a study published in the journal NeuroRehabilitation in 2014, people with MS who trained in Pilates for eight weeks saw improvements in balance, mobility and muscle strength in their arms and legs.
