Frugal Clean Eating: Beginner Tips for Eating Clean on a Budget! Nutrition

New clients always tell me healthy foods are too expensive, but there are simple ways to eat clean without spending your whole paycheck. Here's how!

  • Shop in Season – Load your summer menu with zucchini and peaches and switch to apples and acorn squash in the fall to save big on fresh produce.
  • Skip the Megamart – Huge chain grocery stores are designed to make you spend. Skip the flashy displays and find healthy, organic whole foods for half the cost at local independent grocers, farm stands or Aldi.
  • Start With Sales – Scan local sale flyers first and then build your weekly menu around proteins and produce on special.
  • Rely on Staples – Find great recipes using low-cost staples like eggs, beans, frozen spinach or cabbage. Sprinkle those recipes in with a couple of pricier dishes for variety.

Take the time to eat clean!
