Fibromyalgia is defined as a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculo-skeletal pain, fatigue and tenderness in localized areas. The disorder can cause:

  • cognitive dysfunction (problems with memory and concentration)
  • stiffness
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • hypersensitivity to light
  • hypersensitivity to heat
  • hyper-senitivity to sound
  • dryness in mouth
  • chronic fatigue
  • sleep disorders
  • bowel disorders
  • bladder abnormalities
  • reduced ability to exercise

And that's just to name a few! It is sometimes called an “invisible illness” because patients do not look sick.

Chronic illnesses such as this are not for the weak at heart. I’m always amazed at the level of strength sufferers who live with such an invidious illness. They certainly have my sympathy. Thank you so much for shining some light on this. I think this stands true with other illnesses and disorders ( I call them conditions) as well. If you’re not bedridden or curled up under a table people don’t give credence that you are compromised and sometimes need special help or consideration.
