Symptoms of magnet ingestion can be similar to common childhood illnesses and can be difficult to discern. They include: 

• abdominal pain
• vomiting 
• fever

If treatment is delayed, it can increase the severity of damage to a child’s internal organs. If your child has these symptoms, ask your child if they could’ve swallowed a magnet. If they can’t talk, look for evidence that a magnet could’ve been ingested. 

Go to the ER immediately if you believe your child swallowed a magnet.
