Exercising outside this winter? Wear layers! Layers are not just great for making a fashion statement, they're also great for exercising outdoors in the cold weather months. When you exercise, you generate heat, which can make you feel warm. Layers allow you to take off a piece of clothing to help your body regulate its temperature. 

  • It’s best if the first layer is made of a synthetic material to keep sweat off your skin. 
  • The second layer should be a fleece or wool for insulation.
  • The final layer can be a waterproof, but breathable, material.
