With the holidays come beauty and light – and an uptick in fires. Please use this tip as a reminder to check your smoke detectors and make sure you have a fire escape plan.

For those of you with college-aged or older kids living in their first home off campus, do they have working smoke detectors and extinguishers? Recently, my daughter's off-campus home burned in a four-alarm fire. All eight girls made it out, but lost everything. The fire has sparked awareness on their campus about fire safety.
