This is such a great post, Gregg Halstead ! I love every piece of advice here. This one is especially touching: "You can’t prepare yourself for this, but know that it hurts so much when they hurt. Not just the physical pain but the emotional pain, too." I found that not only when they were little, but perhaps even more as they grow into young adults. So difficult to see your child in pain (emotional or physical). Thank you for putting this together. It will help many new dads (and moms, too)!

I love every bit of advice and i love Dads who take an active role! Only thing I’d add is to make Mom a priority too. Listen, help out, feed baby at midnight, etc.

Wonderful advice, thank you.

I would echo the last piece of advice here, enjoy your time together. It's so easy to get caught up in the logistics of raising kids and working, etc. Just enjoy.
