Dealing With Hurt, Anger, Fear, Pain? 3 Steps to Help You Just Let It Go by Dr. Christina Hibbert
One of the most common questions I get as a psychologist is, "How do I let go? How do I let go of anger, hurt, fear, pain?" While it can be challenging to let go, there are a few things that can help:
- Remember you don't actually want to carry around the heavy load you've been carrying.
- Decide that you want to let it go.
- Actively choose to let it go.
Each time it pops up throughout the day, remind yourself, "I don't need to carry this." Or, ask yourself, "What would it be like, what would I feel like, if I didn't care about this or I could just let this go?" Let yourself imagine the freedom you'd feel if you no longer had this burden. Then, choose to leave it behind.
Repeat as often as needed.
