I almost always remind my clients of the health and wellness benefits of deep breathing, and typically I actually lead them through the exercise in my office. Though I can actually see how relaxed my clients feel afterward, they often report back next week saying they can't tell much of a difference – because they failed to practice daily! Taking three mindful, cleansing breaths daily is a great preventative measure and should be practiced even on the days you don't feel stress.
- Inhale deeply and count to three.
- Exhale until you can’t exhale anymore.
- Repeat at least three times.
Think of it like charging your cell phone battery daily: if you wait until the device loses power, it's already too late!
