Have You Tested for Group B Strep, Mom-to-be? Here's Why You Should!

Group B Strep (GBS) is a bacteria naturally found in a person’s digestive tract and birth canal. In fact, 1 in 4 women have it. Though it doesn’t cause harm to adults, it can be dangerous to an unborn child after Mom’s water breaks.

Not all babies exposed to GBS will become ill, but GBS is dangerous and can even cause death. All moms should be tested since infections at birth can be prevented with four hours of IV antibiotic just prior to delivery.
